kumiyamashita_001.jpg Building blocks (1997)Dialogue (1999)

This work is resembles part of my idea which ‘’parting of body and shadow which considered through my concept of ‘’embodiment that a personality fuse into the other personality, who exist in a body closely.

I am interested in this idea of this works concept and the way of representation.

When the viewer enters the dark installation space, they see a large empty area of the floor lit with projectors. When the viewer walks into the lit area, their shadow is thrown on the ground. Then viewer notice other shadows slowly entering the lit area. These disembodied shadows look like the viewers own shadow. The virtual shadows slowly walk towards the viewer. If the viewer runs away, the shadows will follow, and if the viewer move towards then its retreat.

There are no artificial controls or prescribed manner of interaction. This transparent interface allows viewers to act naturally.

Our shadows feel as if they are extensions of our bodies. These shadows are the absence of light due to our presence. This installation removes the presence, leaving only the representative void. The autonomous shadows create the intense sensation of both presence and absence simultaneously. Shadow merges viewer and artwork, the real and the virtual, into one entity. Along with the conceptual, there is a strong emotional and intimate component to this piece. The feeling of both the presence and absence of another human being is visceral and ghostly. In a sense, this piece functions as a quiet, interactive, anonymous memorial. (Frank.2008)

This work created by two artists who works as collaboration artist who Tim Noble and Sue Webster who are also as a partner in personal time as well.

In this work there would be only rubbishes if there were no light hitting them. However there is a man is nestle up to a woman projected to a wall when light is applied cast shadow though rubbishes.

These rubbishes were worth by Tim and Sue in last six month. These rubbishes explain that times they spent, which includes their experiences, feelings of they spent in six month. Basically a body as an object projects own entity, but in this case, the rubbish projects the shadow that projects a certain realities of internal substance projects an internal shade of meaning of the body though the projected shadow projects the substance. It is feelings based on the experience through time spent in six month and a character of itself as well.

If it changed the arrangement of the rubbishes used for this work, it would be likely to become the shape of the man and woman who hits each other, or it will become the appearance of the lover who parts reluctantly.

I think that it is certainly having with another character there with feelings of different moments of focused because this shave is shoot directly just one aspect of the time and feeling of they spent in six month.

Because this comfortable atmosphere of the shadow which reflects only one moment of the six month. It is a part of many emotions which Tim and Sue had between them as a couple.

right brain vs left brain

December 5, 2007

This is kind of psychological test that which brain do you use normally right or left. The instruction said that the girl is turning if you using right brain, if she turning left then…I do not know how it made. But the the technology is excellent. If you try to watch from different angle, she will start turning different direction.

Andy Warhol: Santa Clause

December 5, 2007

santawarhol.jpgThis work is one of a peg to start discovering personality fusion.Normally Santa Clause is having clean image. But this Santa has lecherous countenance in his eyes. Even though, viewers are easy to recognizing he is a Santa because of his costume. People might not recognize if he is not wearing the costume. However it can be said to the other Santa Clause, the point is the costume.Andy had excellent focusing on the theory which aspects and contents are both linking to discovering what the object is.

The work inspired me a lot to understanding how digital technologies are able to use as a tools of representation and also the possibilities of technology.

His way of creating is very simple.Taking many footage in lifetime and just pick some scenes from footage, then he makes or having idea from these particular scenes.

Then the footage is going to far as possible as he could and it being a work.

I am liking his way of create working.

His works are visually beautiful, as these are having strong impacts and constructed by his refined sense of visual.

However these works does not have depth because works does not have any meanings.

These works are seems to be like 60’s pop art works which were consists of strong impact and sense of visual as well.

“Pop art works are not going thorough to own feeling, its just attached surface.”

This work created by Christian Marclay at 2002.

He carefully selected various film scenes and these were synchronized in the work.

Many of the clips apperer for their musical content,  and each clips are carrying out to being a part of instrument.

This work let me understanding of possibilities of sound and visual fusion.
